107 at Kechara Forest Retreat!
Last night, our Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR) team organized another exciting event at our retreat land in Chamang. The day started with a morning durian party attended by Datin Ng (jindak), Datuk May (Kechara House president and Head Liaison), Dato’ Ruby (President of Kechara Soup Kitchen), Liaison Henry Ooi (Director of Kechara Paradise) and Angel.
Datin Ng is a long-time student of mine. She is loyal, helped me in many times of need in the past and has been a steady supporter of many Kechara projects. This trip was for Datin Ng, as she wanted to take a look-see at an exciting project Datuk May is spearheading. It was her first time visiting and touring around KFR’s land, with Datuk May showing her what has already been done as well as our future plans. Welcome my dear Datin Ng!
Later in the afternoon, Ms Allison, also came for a short tour at KFR. Allison is a very good florist, and it is because of her experience and skill I am able to have such realistic-looking artificial trees all around my house!
While Allison was touring around KFR, the Ladrang staff came earlier to help prepare for the arrival of 107 guests. The itinerary for the guests was: a short prayer, dinner and an outdoor movie screening! I was told that for days many people were excited about watching a thriller movie in the jungle, under the stars hehe.
The guests arrived at KFR at 5.30pm by bus. They then offered butterlamps and flowers to Buddha Shakyamuni and Vajrayogini… how meritorious! After touring around the area, Pastor Susan held a short puja. Dinner was catered by Kechara Oasis, and guests ate while watching the sun set… they then grabbed some snacks as the projector came on and aired “The Village”!
Everything was so neatly set up by the KFR team led by Sofi Lim and a few other devoted students determined to share a piece of happiness at KFR. Everyone pulled in resources to make this event work, including two dedicated Kecharians, Any and Bean, who kindly leant their equipment to create an incredible outdoor cinema!
There were many new faces yesterday. Many Kecharians brought their friends along… but among these new faces were 2 volunteers who flew in from overseas: Metok, a Vietnamese lady in her 50’s who has been living in San Francisco for many years… and Yinxi, a 21 year old boy from China who aspires to be a translator. I’m happy that they got to go with the group to KFR!
I am looking forward to hear more exciting news from the KFR team and for them to carry out more fun and meaningful events such as this consistently… from what I heard, the next event is a karaoke. Karaoke in the forest?? Hehe
I thank everyone involved in this great event. Everyone did such a great job under the leadership of our liaisons of Kechara. I thank my blog team for this wonderful post made ready for me to share with the world!

I believe what you typed made a ton of sense. However, consider this, suppose you typed a catchier title?
I am not saying your information isn’t good., however what if you
added something that grabbed people’s attention?
I mean 107 at Kechara Forest Retreat! | Tsem Rinpoche is a little
plain. You should glance at Yahoo’s home page and see how they write news titles to grab people to click.
You might add a related video or a related pic or two
to grab readers excited about everything’ve written. Just my opinion, it might make your posts a
little livelier.

I mean, what you say is important and everything. However just imagine if you added some great images or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips, this
website could definitely be one of the best in its niche.
Excellent blog!
I am just so happy that there were so many different activities that happened at KFR. It is just great to know what the Kecharians are able to do with minimum things that were around them at that time.
As compared to how KFR is now, it is very different. I am shocked with the amount of changes that has happened with how KFR looks like a year before and how it looks like now.

Thank you to all the KFR comms who organized this wonderful trip for us. I enjoyed it so much. That day was sunny yet not too hot, just nice. Look at our face, then you know how much we all enjoyed it. KO did a good job of set up of nice food for us. After dinner, we had our movie! That’s my first time lying on the ground under a big dark sky watching movie. Wow.. amazing experience. Hey my dearest KFR Comms, when are we having this kind of luxury life style in KFR again?? heheh.. Thank you. I had a wonderful wonderful time..
What a wonderful trip! with food and movie as well 🙂 Everyone is blessed to be there by making connection to KFR which will bring many benefits to the public in the near future, it is already bringing benefits now for those who are involved in the project.
I hope I will have the opportunity to visit there again 🙂
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing all the lovely pictures. Datuk May and teams and all the volunteers are working so hard for our KFR, it looks very very beautiful, I could see a lot of love and care put into it. Very happy to see all visitors with smiling faces in the pictures^_^May KFR manifest swiftly and can benefit to more peoples!!
We rejoice for everyone who is present for the event. The organizers for the KFR outing is very creative.More event like this should be made available to the public or fellow members. This could be done for a good cause as it will create more memorable awareness for some and a faster way to give opportunity to the public to become sponsors to such an important homage Destination in Malaysia.
May the KFR project be completed soon.
it is excited to see so many people from many places come and visit Kechara! This is what Kechara for! Spreading Dharma to more and more people, attract people from all walks of life to connect with Lama Tsongkaha’s teaching! I am happy for the new comers, as they can enjoy themselves at KFR. My aunt and her friends were happy and pleasant to be there. Good job to the KFR team and the liasons! More trip please. 🙂
It was a perfect day when we arrived at KFR. Making candle & flower offering to Buddha Shakyamuni was a really unique & exciting experience. Especially under the iconic tree & in the middle of a forest. I also felt a sense of joy & peace while doing circumambulation around the Buddha.
Watching the movie outdoor under the starry night is awesome. This is just the beginning, stay tune for more exciting activities up at KFR. The next one is on 25/8/12.
Thanks Rinpoche.
It was an awesome day out with all Kecharians and guests from all over. It was auspicious to make flower and candle offering to Buddha Shakyamuni. Evryone is so happy and excited! Its the first time i have buffet in a forest and to watch scary movie in the woods hehehehe…nice and scary too. I am sure Kechara Forest Retreat manifestation will benefit many, because just looking at the people leaving KFR with smile, even it is still not fully develop. I am sure KFR will give many of us happiness and peace!
Great job for KFR Team, can’t wait for the next visit 😉
May Kechara Forest Retreat manifest swiftly.
The activities at the outing we had at KFR was so simple, but yet so impactful in leaving everyone with a strong happy memory of the day itself. I could not have asked for a more amazing way to spend my Saturday.
There was so much laughter and joy all around, imagine when KFR is running full fledged with its abundant of activities planned for the future. Busloads of people will keep on coming.
Thank you to the KWPC team – Datuk May, Joe, Martin, Khoo and June, as well as the organising committee – Sofi, Grace, Doreen, KH Ng, Yik Ming amongst others who did so much preparation work to make sure the day ran smoothly.
It was a blast as depicted from the many smiles in the pictures.
KFR is a very nice place for us,KFR can manifest lots of lots people, like do retreat , holiday , relax and is a place for us to feel peace.
Hope other people from other country can come here to visit!!!
And eat durian also !!!
Thank you !!
Wish I had the chance to go but it’s ok… I can go with my family the next visit!
Kechara Forest Retreat is getting more beautiful and now we can make offerings at Shakyamuni’s altar/ How nice!
Thank you everyone who made it such a memorable experience for everyone who went for the visit.
107 is one short of the auspicious number 108 hehe. Who knows maybe there that extra 1 person not counted yet or invisible hehe. Just my imagination running wild I suppose.
It is a wonderful trip to KFR especially we brought along our girls. This is the first time they went to KFR and they are very excited. Even the youngest is very well behave and corporative. I think it must be the environment is so blessed by the Buddha Dharma.
We let the girls to have candle offerings to the Buddha & VY and wish that they are always be with Buddha Dharma, able to learn and next time can spread Dharma too.
Thank you to the KFR team, the working committee of this outing, the Ladrang Team and all that make it happened. May KFR manifest soonest and can benefit to more people and beings!
This is what the Kechara family is all about; A family that prays together, stays together. Kecharians are one of the most hard working spiritual group, filled with highly qualified and dedicated staffs, full time volunteers and members from diverse backgrounds. We work, play, dream of visions together. And soon, we will have one of our many dreams turn into reality; Kechara Forest Retreat. Every moment i am reminded of how blessed I am to be a part of this group of great people, closely and lovingly guided by our Spiritual Guide HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.
Happiness written on the faces of all who were there visiting KFR on that memorable Saturday! Great to see friends from abroad visiting too! Lovely to see Datin Ng looking excited about KFR and where it’s moving towards!Thank you Rinpoche for conceiving KFR , a vision becoming a reality!
Amazing people in an amazing location. So nice to see Datin Ng getting information about what KFR will be like. Rinpoche always mentioned that many of the pivotal moments he always had help from women.
Had a great time at Kechara Forest Retreat. It makes a huge difference to gather in the midst of nature. A wonderful break from the concrete jungle of the city. My friend’s 2 sons, Shen and Wei decided to stay back while my friends had to attend a family gathering in the city.
I was happy for the 2 boys as they don’t have much experience of dharma activities. They live in the UK with their parents. So it was a wonderful opportunity to hang out and pray.
Watching a movie in the open air was an awesome experience as well. The movie was called, The Village. The acting and plot were excellent. It’ll be great to have more of this al fresco movies in the future especially when KFR is up.
Thank you JP for looking out for Shen & Wei. Pleasantly surprised but joyful that they chose to stay behind. They would have been bored at the dinner! They thoroughly enjoyed themselves & I am sure this is the highlight of their holiday certainly for Wei. KFR had left an impact on him!
What a virtuous way to spend an evening. As usual everything was so well-organised & all thoughts were given to the comforts of the visitors. Kudos & thank you to the team for making this an enjoyable event.
This is like a big family outing really! It is so happening in KFR! So nice to be there! Thank you for sharing out the photos!
Our KFR is so lively and beautiful with so many people from all over the world. Pure bliss!
Durian + Outdoor cinema on a retreat land, hehe, very Kechara style la. I like.
Congratulations to the Organizing committee who have successfully organized this movie outing event for members and friends. I truly enjoyed myself. And never would I have ever imagined so many people coming together as One Kechara to pray and watch a movie together at KFR in this beginning stages. There will be more exciting events to come.
Of course it was really nice to see Datin Ng at KFR for the first time. Thank you Datuk May for the yummy durians. Thank you Bean and Any for the wonderful music system that enable use to watch the movie.
I am so looking forward to the next event!!
No worries, folks for there is going to be another trip to KFR soon in 2 weeks time. We received suggestions for open air karaoke in the next round. That day on KFR was awesome! Excellent weather, hard working KFR team and Ladrang, Datuk May, Datin Ng, volunteers, members and overseas visitors made the trip exciting and memorable! Cannot thank Bean and Any enough for their great audio n video outdoor system for all to enjoy. Thank you, everyone!
It was really fun at KFR that day! Thrilled to see so many people up there. I love to be at KFR. Air’s refreshing, many greens around..I can imagine Kechara Retreat Center built there…pure bliss!
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful place!
I enjoy the itinerary of the day very much, it’s leisure and spiritual. KFR team and the member committee has done such a nice job. I especially enjoy the movie under the stars.
The most important thing is we create the awareness of KFR to more people, that this is a good place for you to unwind and relax, a good place to practice spirituality as it’s away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
I love KFR because it can benefit so many people and beings. May it manifest swiftly with all the supports from lots of people!
Had a great day at KFR. I take pride in Datuk May and team who made it easy for all of us to be there. As we know, this is another vision of our guru for the growth of the holy dharma in Malaysia. May we pray for the triumph soon to see…. rejoice proudly!!
Hi All. Thanks KFR team and all volunteers for the great trip and and all for coming. We are planning another trip for 25th of Aug. Not movie though. Something different. Please look out for the announcement soon. Cheers!
Kudos to KFR team and everyone who put in so much effort to make this happen. Everyone seemed very happy & having a good time. It was very nice to see Datin Ng visiting KFR. Hope there will be another opportunity to visit KFR again and experience the fun and beautiful natural setting!
Very nice to read through a brief explaination about the day trip and the many photos here. Thank you Rinpoche for your sharing.
I see many happy faces, people who are still very young and those who are in their mid age, I see families, as well as people who happen to be here from overseas. A great gathering indeed.
I feel it quite special to have a mix of both dharma and modern activity (Movie on ‘The Village’). It must have been a special day for all the participants.
All these pictures will become so memorable once KFR is built up. Many things appear tough at the beginning because there will always be obstacles on our ways. If everyone chips in their efforts willingly and with enthusiasm, many things seem impossible is possible.
This is really interesting and excited by just looking at the photos. Especially with flowers, candles, and DURIANS! Thank you for sharing all the photos!
Is really wonderful to see everybody doing their part to make things happened. This is the kind of group work that we really needed in all of our future project. So nice to see all the happy faces in KFR. It makes you wanted to do more for others. Giving is much important then receiving.
Compliments to KFR committee and all Ladrang staff especially to Datuk May for being there early and the last to leave and also to the contribution of Datin Ng. You all are incredible.
Fantastic pictures! Thanks for sharing!
Rejoice for all Kecharians, the durians look so nice. Despite of that the whole day programs make all the visitors have a fruitful trip to KFR.
From the photos above we can see that all the visitors are so happy, peace and cheer at KFR.
Durians? I did not know durians were part of this equation. All in all very good job by the KWPC committee to hold this for all Kecharians.
Wish I could’ve been there! The trip to KFR looks like so much fun and merits all rolled into one! And the idea of an outdoor night movie is awesome … hope that will happen at the next one too. I was very happy to see that Datin Ng visited KFR – we owe so much to Datin Ng for helping Rinpoche a few years ago when Rinpoche and Kechara had severe financial difficulties. Everything that we have now is because Datin helped us build the foundation for a bigger Kechara today. Thank you Datin!
What a nice gathering !! from the pictures, everyone is so excited and happy…really a wonderful idea to see the movie under the star…it must be fun to have karaoke in the forest…well done, KFR team & KH dept for the hard work to make the event successful..welcome all the new friends from oversea..
Great pictures of Kecharians having a enjoyable and memorable time at KFR.Congratulations to the hard working team who made this outing a success. So glad our visiting overseas guests are able to be there and experience our hospitality.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these great event and lovely pictures.

Is a very happy day, the KFR team, and the working committee and Ladrang staff all work hand in hand to make sure the event successful. KFR team has very focus to get all things done especially Joe work very hard. On that day, myself and Joe went early to set up the place, and we make Khoo running the whole Petaling Jaya to buy things, hehe. Martin and Datuk May taking care of all the VIP and guest, sharing the KFR plan and progress.
In the afternoon, Tsem Ladrang staff came earlier to help prepare for the arrival of 107 guests. Ladrang staff all were very helpful , they take order and do it happily. Around 5pm, the members arrived and the working committee guides them well.
During ending, Tsem Ladrang staff stays back and help to clean the place, and can you imagine Li Kheng carried big and heavy boxes, she is so powerful.
Thank you to Tsem ladrang staff and working committee to make this event successful.

This looks like such a fantastic evening…. it’s wonderful to see the photos of everyone who loved being at KFR! I can’t wait to attend the next one. A HUGE thank you to all who organised it and worked so hard to make it a pleasant trip for all those who attended. I loved seeing all the smiling faces! I heard wonderful feedback from Pastor Susan, Sean, Moh Mei and many people who went! Let’s get Kechara Forest Retreat UP fast so more people can enjoy that amazing environment!!!!!
Dearest Rinpoche,
Thank You for sharing the beautiful photos of the Movie Screening Event at Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR). Everyone is so happy with the background which some how or rather surreal and doesn’t look like in Malaysia. KFR is definitely GROWING with the hard work of Ladrang Staff and the effort of the dedicated Kechara Employees and Members. Congratulations!!!
Thank You Rinpoche
The day was sunny and hot but we had chilled young coconuts to wash down the durians. If ever Kechara were to open a durian stall, never have Joe Ang be the one to praise open durians. Poor Joe, he was struggling trying to open up the durians so much so his arms were shaking! LOL!
