Relationship Compatibility for the Rat
Which Lunar Animal sign best suits the Rat, when it comes to relationships?
Relationship compatibility within the Chinese Zodiac mostly takes into account the general characteristics for each animal. However, every individual will place their own unique twist on the basic characteristics. That being said, it’s always fun to read about how well (or not well) you match with your partner!
Read on to learn the compatibility of the Rat with other Animal Lunar Signs.
RAT PARTNER + RAT PARTNER: 81%
Two people who are too alike can suffer from too much of each other’s traits. It always depends on whether each partner brings the best out of each other or not. In this case, Rats are highly intelligent but can take on more than they can chew. If both of them try to multitask and spread themselves too thin, they will both burn out.
The two Rats in a relationship should sit down and prioritise things that need to be done so that everything can be kept under control. Rats can also be critical and if the two in the relationship are constantly picking at each other’s faults, it can create a very negative environment which is not conducive for a relationship.
To make the best out of their relationship, the two Rats should communicate constructively with each other and try not to have high expectations which are not practical.
RAT PARTNER + OX PARTNER: 88%
This is a good match as they will appreciate each other’s qualities and put in more than what is needed in the relationship. The Ox is security-conscious and a good provider. Hence, a dutiful, competent and reliable partner like the Rat is very attractive to the Ox. The Rat is attentive, and will keep the household in perfect condition.
This is a fulfilling relationship for both. The Ox is a reliable partner and the Rat is loving in return. The Rat is outgoing and sociable, hence is contented with the security the Ox provides. The Ox is strong, quiet and likes the extra attention from the Rat.
For this relationship to improve, the Rat should be mindful of the Ox’s lack of social skills and the Rat could help the Ox to be more communicative. The Ox can also be aware of the Rat’s constant worry about danger and possible emotional mood swings and assure the Rat of a secure environment.
RAT PARTNER + TIGER PARTNER: 70%
The Rat loves the family and can be very considerate when shown appreciation. The Tiger is sentimental while self-indulgent; is bossy and has a quick temper. The Rat often cannot stand the Tiger’s demands and feels that the Tiger can be quite narrow-minded. This kind of relationship usually does not have a happy ending.
Superficially, this couple is very similar as they are both sociable, active and are interested in a variety of things. The achievement-oriented Rat seeks fortune and power and the Tiger loves prestige. However, as they get to know each other better, the homely Rat might not find Tiger’s unpredictable manner pleasant, while the generous Tiger might complain that the Rat is miserly.
However, both have a very positive outlook in life and will either work towards sorting out their differences or ending the relationship. It is not an easy journey though so both should think twice before jumping into a relationship.
RAT PARTNER + RABBIT PARTNER: 47%
This couple may not work out as expectations might not be met and this combination does not bring out the best in either partner. The Rat is possessive and romantic while the Rabbit is quite passive. Although they are both charming, rarely would they be dedicated or giving enough to work it out.
The Rat is sociable, active and cunning by nature, while the Rabbit on the other hand, has a mild temperament and can be a little dim when it comes to strenuous activity and socializing; these differences may seem like a mismatch.
However, there are advantages that lie in their opposite personalities, and also in their similarities. Both Rat and Rabbit like being around family and set realistic goals in life; they are also both good with finances.
If both work hard and understand each other in their relationship, these two can be an excellent match. The Rat should appreciate the calmness and diplomacy of the Rabbit, and be careful not to criticize the Rabbit too much as the Rabbit will hop away! The Rabbit should realise that the Rat tries to do too many things at the same time, and can get stressed. Calm the busy Rat down and help the Rat prioritise so the Rat can be less stressed and in turn be a better partner!
RAT PARTNER + DRAGON PARTNER: 95%
This combination will bring about a fulfilling relationship as the optimistic couple are brave and determined enough to work out a future together. This couple will find it easy to trust each other as both are very capable and have tremendous amount of self-confidence.
The Dragon will be very attracted and grateful for the Rat’s loyalty, positive attitude and continuous support for the Dragon. The Dragon is very kind and giving while the Rat can be thrifty and resourceful, making this couple well prepared at times of need. The Rat is very active and lively but will always allow the Dragon to take on the dominant role. This union is a very fruitful and lasting one as long as each partner is willing to compromise and not seek absolute equality from each other.
In order to make this relationship stronger, the Dragon should be careful to not be too domineering and both should allow each other enough freedom. The Dragon should appreciate the cautious advice of the Rat though because the Dragon’s magnetic personality and power will attract all and sundry and the Dragon may tend to jump into situations without thinking it through. The Rat’s ability to spot danger at ten paces will be an asset to the Dragon if the Dragon listens to the Rat. Always realise that each is looking after your best interests at heart and work from that basis for a successful relationship.
RAT PARTNER + SNAKE PARTNER: 67%
This can be a great partnership. The two controlling yet realistic partners will make necessary compromises in order to achieve success in their relationship. The Rat will appreciate the Snake’s intelligence and perseverance while the Snake admires the Rat’s success-orientated attitude. The Rat is more flexible and easy-going although both are materialistic and result-orientated. The Rat likes it that the Snake is cautious and likes the Rat’s devotion.
This materialistic pair will never stop advancing themselves, making their union a successful and profitable one provided they have the right attitude and have a mutual agreement on their priorities. Although they may have a similar view generally, the Rat craves more togetherness, which is sometimes not readily given by the Snake. Both the Snake and the Rat are naturally suspicious and have a severe lack of trust so they should learn to communicate better with each other. They should take care not to allow jealousy and secrets to obstruct their progress or wreck their relationship which can be very beneficial to each other.
RAT PARTNER + HORSE PARTNER: 29%
This couple might not agree with each other’s views and may lack the effort to work out the relationship. The Rat doesn’t like the Horse’s restlessness and unsteadiness; on the other hand, the Horse will be annoyed by the Rat’s petty quarrels. The Rat does not reveal his or her inner self easily while the Horse is very open.
The Rat is hardworking and affectionate, and enjoys the company and the closeness of family. The Horse, however needs physical and mental freedom. These two will find it difficult to see eye to eye because of their different personalities. The Horse sees the Rat as selfish and inconsiderate, while the Rat sees the Horse as possessive and unreasonable. Neither will find the other attractive to remain in a permanent relationship.
In order to try to make it work, the Rat needs to realise that the Horse’s need for freedom doesn’t mean that the Horse does not treasure the relationship. The Horse must also realise that a relationship is about two people and not just about what the Horse wants. Compromise and understanding are the keys to success.
RAT PARTNER + SHEEP PARTNER: 56%
This combination could be frustrating and couple might end up dissatisfied. The Rat will not be sure about building a family with the often oversensitive and unrealistic Sheep. In financial matters, the Sheep may think the Rat is too shrewd and greedy while the Rat thinks the Sheep is too expensive to keep around him. Moreover, the Sheep is only responsive when pampered.
They are both charming and capable of great warmth and tenderness; however that’s where the similarities end and the differences begin. Unfortunately, the differences tend to eclipse the similarities between these two signs, which makes it difficult for either one of them to understand the other.
The Rat is resourceful and hardworking while the Sheep has an easygoing attitude. The Rat is thrifty and skillful in saving money, but the Sheep spends lavishly without much thought. The Rat is calm and practical, but the Sheep is governed by Sheep’s emotions and laziness. When irked, the Rat can be fussy while the Sheep finds the Rat too cunning and scheming to deal with. Because they find it difficult to understand each other, they may not compromise with each other.
To even give this relationship a chance, the Rat should not have too high expectations of the Sheep and be willing to accept the self-indulgent nature of the Sheep. Both Rats and Sheep also tend to be pessimistic, so they should both work on being more positive and support each other accordingly.
RAT PARTNER + MONKEY PARTNER: 90%
The Monkey and Rat partnership is one of the best combinations able to work structurally together. The Monkey is an outstanding thinker, which the Rat will be very proud of, while the Rat will be a competent and cheerful partner. The Rat will be able to get the delightful but wandering Monkey to settle down and the Monkey will adore the Rat’s attributes dearly. These two partners will be always looking out for desirable qualities in each other, and their life together will be fulfilling, satisfying and financially prosperous.
The Rat and the Monkey may find it difficult to focus because of the Monkey’s short attention span and the Rat’s constant multitasking, but the Monkey’s optimism will be a good balance to the Rat’s pessimistic outlook. If these two support each other through thick and thin, they will both be able to reach new heights and enjoy a sparkling relationship.
RAT PARTNER + ROOSTER PARTNER: 66%
This couple will not go well together. The Rat will be resentful as the Rooster goes about criticising the Rat’s shortcomings. The Rooster’s eccentric character and analytical nature annoys the Rat, who will find the Rooster ungrateful. The Rooster’s materialistic nature will also aggravate the thrifty Rat.
Both parties are controlling and independent in their own right. They like to control both people and each other. However, the Rooster has the tendency to preach, coupled with a bossy and inflexible character. This conflicts with the intelligence of the Rat, who thinks independently and is therefore less likely to follow the Rooster’s words blindly. The Rooster can also make the Rat feel inferior by the Rooster’s cocky and arrogant attitude.
The Rat partner will seek what the Rooster partner cannot provide, which is warmth, affection and tenderness. From the very beginning, the relationship is doomed for failure. The relationship has a better chance of success if the Rooster and Rat are more mature, as they are more likely to be more patient which each other.
RAT PARTNER + DOG PARTNER: 72%
This couple shares many similarities: peace loving, independent and affectionate. The Rat is charming and hardworking while the Dog is loyal and considerate. However, this may lead to a dull relationship with too much compromise.
This union has the potential to be a very happy one. Mutual respect and mutual interests are the main hallmarks of this relationship, since both are extroverted but will respect one another to give each other the freedom necessary. Although the Rat may be more affectionate, the Dog will be diplomatic and easy-going enough to prevent petty bickering.
For a smoother relationship, as with all relationships, communication is key. As the Dog is a stickler for routine and quite set in its ways, the Rat has to give as much notice of changes of schedule as possible to the Dog in order to keep the peace. The Dog should also try to be more sensitive to the Rat’s emotions as the Rat often multitasks and gets stressed when things get out of control. Communicate what you need to each other and if you respond to each other’s needs, the relationship will thrive.
RAT PARTNER + PIG PARTNER: 81%
The Rat and Pig couple are vivacious and finds themselves attracted to each other both physically and mentally. However, their over simplistic outlook may be too unrealistic. There is a need for something solid to hold the relationship together as both of them do not provide a stabilising force to the relationship or marriage.
This partnership could see many a gathering at their home, given the social nature of both partners. The Pig and the Rat will be attracted to their shared outgoing and energetic nature, and appreciate that they have the same interests and firm beliefs. Although the Rat may be the more sensitive and sensible of the pair, the Rat’s intelligence will be appreciated by the Pig who may at times compromise far too much for his own good.
For this relationship to excel, the Rat can support the Pig by helping look out for the best interests of the Pig. The Pig is often too trusting and naïve and may get exploited. The Rat, on the other hand, does not trust easily and will often be skeptical of people until proven otherwise. If the Pig relies on the Rat’s uncanny intuition, this couple should easily maneuver around any obstacles to a great relationship.
